In a collaborative operation between local law enforcement and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), officers responded to a call at the Spence Apartments leading to the arrest of a Carbondale man.
As officers assisted DCFS at the residence, they spotted Ezell Jones, 46, emerging from the building. Recognizing him, the officers were aware that Jones had previously been banned from the Housing program and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. That warrant, issued by Alexander County, Illinois, was for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Jones was taken into custody without incident and now faces charges for the warrant as well as criminal trespass to state-supported property. He has been lodged at the Massac County Detention Center, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
