Metropolis Police Department Arrest Blotter - Bicycle Vandalism Leads to Charges Against Local Man - 4.4.25

A routine visit to Big Johns turned into a report of vandalism for one local cyclist. Officers responded to a call from the victim who claimed that his bicycle had been damaged by 62-year-old Jeffery A. Beal, a resident of Metropolis.

Upon investigating the incident, authorities reviewed surveillance footage from Big Johns, which clearly depicted Beal releasing air from the bike’s tires and damaging a reflector. The evidence was compelling enough for the Metropolis police to take immediate action.

A Sergeant soon located Beal in the gaming room of the Speedy Mart on 12th Street. Following his identification, Beal was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

Beal has been released on a notice to appear in court following the charges.
