WMOK (Metropolis, IL) – On March 14, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, a Metropolis Officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th and Catherine. The vehicle was observed exceeding the speed limit, traveling at 50 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and noted several additional signs of impairment. The driver, identified as Marisela Sanchez, 27, from Mayfield, KY, was subjected to field sobriety tests, which she failed.
As a result, Sanchez was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), speeding, and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or greater. She was subsequently released on a notice to appear in court.
