Community Urged to Donate Blood: Make a Difference This February

WMOK (Metropolis, IL) – In challenging times, the need for blood donations often becomes critical.

Linda Wetzel, a local blood donation organizer, recently highlighted various factors that can negatively impact blood supply levels. Natural disasters such as wildfires, severe weather events like snow and ice, and holiday or vacation seasons can all lead to a significant drop in available blood donations.

However, Wetzel pointed out that the positive impact of community involvement cannot be overstated: “Things that have a positive impact on the blood supply… are people like you donating.”

This February, there’s an opportunity for residents to step up and help. A blood donation drive is scheduled for February 10th from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Metropolis. This is a vital chance to contribute and possibly save a life.

The need for blood is constant, and your contribution can make a significant difference in the community. If you’re able, please consider donating; someone’s life may depend on it!
