WMOK – Metropolis, IL – On December 19, a Metropolis police officer conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep driving erratically northbound on US 45 near Devers Road. The vehicle was observed weaving out of its marked lanes, prompting the officer to investigate further.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Brock E. Bailey of Paducah, exhibited clear signs of impairment and subsequently failed field sobriety tests administered by the officer.
A routine computer check revealed that Bailey’s driver’s license was suspended. Additionally, an open bottle of vodka was discovered inside the vehicle.
Bailey was charged with several offenses, including improper lane usage, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving while suspended, DUI, and DUI with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 or greater, registering at .156. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center for processing and has since been released on a notice to appear in court.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
