Metropolis Animal Control Officer Roman Launches Fundraiser to Assist with Extra Care for Canines in "Doggie Jail" - - Originally Published in July of 2024

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Originally Published in July of 2024 – Metropolis Animal Control and Abatement Officer John Roman has embarked on a fundraising drive for the Metropolis Pound by selling t-shirts that he has designed.

Officer Roman has a long history in Metropolis of going above and beyond in caring for the dogs picked up by the Metropolis Animal Control Department.

It was in our June Coffee Break Episode that Officer Roman announced that the t-shirt project was on the horizon. (hear audio in Soundcloud player below)

Roman advised just this week that the shirts have arrived.  The shirts are $25 each and proceeds go toward needs for the canines at the Metropolis Pound.

The Metropolis Pound is covered in the city budget – however, Roman’s dedication to his work is a bit of a mission.  Donations to the Metropolis Pound assist Roman in keeping animals at the pound longer than the limit which has allowed Roman to keep an extraordinarily low euthanization rate.
