(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – The Metropolis City Council meeting took place on Monday evening with movement in Metropolis Library Board appointments and the announcement of a fundraising event in September.
Susan Howell and Sandra Morse Greenwald spoke under citizen and visitor requests regarding an upcoming Project Hope Fundraiser, the Project Hope Car Cruise. Approval was given for the closure of the Superman Statue to 8th Street from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on September 14th for the event to take place.
In the mayor’s report, a motion was approved to accept Carl Johnson’s resignation from the Metropolis Public Library board – motions were also approved to accept the appointment of Theo Wells to a one-year term of the library board – Rhonda James to a 3-year term of the library board and Pam Tyson to a 3-year term of the library board.
There were motions approved regarding financial items, a motion approved to seek bids for the sale of 112 East 21st Street – among other items.
