(WMOK) Metropolis IL – Late Monday afternoon Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias issued a statement regarding the Metropolis Public Library and Mayor Canada’s planned firing of three Metropolis Board Members at last night’s city council meeting.

Shortly following the statement folks gathered – first at the Massac County Courthouse lawn and then as it began to sprinkle, on to the Metropolis City Hall for the Metropolis City Council Meeting.

The table of the library vote begins at about 28 minutes into the video.  Following the tabling there are a couple of business items before Chief Micah Tolbert speaks on special accolades for on of our firefighters.  Following a vote on payments the discussion goes back to citizen requests and is approximately an hour:

The result of the meeting – the issue of removing the three members is tabled until the April 22 City Council meeting.
