Wednesday November 8th – Wear Blue For Graham Day

In Memory of the Short But Impactful Life of Graham Hosman

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Graham Hosman lost his battle with Cancer on November 3.  Graham was the 8 year old grandson of long-time Massac County Coach Joe Hosman.

Graham has been an inspiration throughout his own community and the entirety of Southern Illinois throughout his courageous fight.   Schools and Communities throughout our region have supported Graham and his family with “Wear Blue for Graham” days, fundraisers and prayers in great magnitude.

A Wear Blue for Graham Day will be held tomorrow, Wednesday November 8th in honor of Graham and his bravery as well as the many joys and blessings that he brought those around him.

The Massac County High School Class of 2002 has advised that they wish to gift a bench in memory of Graham.  Graham’s dad Andrew Hosman is a Class of 2002 alumni.

They are accepting contributions from former class members — large or small to make this happen.   Organizers advise that any remaining funds exceeding the purchase will be passed along to the family.

You may drop donations to Heather Foss at Edward Jones 109 W. 5th Street in Metropolis (across from City Hall) or send them electronically to CaSandra Morehead. Accepted are: FB Messenger pay, Venmo @CaSandra-Morehead , PayPal casandrahelton@hotmail.com or

Please send only as friends/family option (not goods or services) to avoid fees.

Graham Joseph Hosman, age 8, passed away peacefully at his home in his daddy’s arms surrounded by family on November 3, 2023.

He was born October 6, 2015, the firstborn of three sons to Andrew and Jennifer (Parks) Hosman of Eldorado, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandfather, Dr. Elliott Partridge, paternal great grandparents Reba Marie and Lloyd Johns; maternal great grandfather, Emil Allen, and maternal honorary great grandfather, James Parks.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his younger brothers, Parker, 6, and Eli, 3; paternal grandparents, Joe (PaPa) and Joni (Omi) Hosman of Metropolis, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Larry (Granddad) and Cathy (Nana) Parks of Eldorado, Illinois; paternal great-grandmother, Darla Partridge; maternal great grandmother, Rita Allen; maternal honorary great grandmother, Cathlene Parks.

Many aunts, uncles, and cousins are blessed to have shared in Graham’s brief but impactful life this side of heaven.  Zach and Hannah Hosman, their children, Gabe, Evie, and Millie; Craig and Lyndsay Parks, their children, Logan, Maci, Tessa, and Lyncoln; Hayley and Randy Story, their children, Evelyn, Henry, and Samuel; Barry Parks and Amy Daugherty; Kamryn and Zack Kester, and infant son, Silas Graham; Meredith and Nick Holland, their children, Josiah, Maisyn, and Darcy; Abby and Cole Hackett; Natalie Hosman, Lydia Hosman, and Isaac Hosman.

Graham will forever be remembered for his determination, perseverance, competitive spirit, keen mind, and his desire to please loved ones. He is known for his compassion and tenderness shown to the elderly, the young, and the hurting. He steadfastly prayed for the needs of others, humbly submitted to endless intrusions to his person, and taught us by example the beauty of contentment by his lack of complaining.

He loved dinosaurs, fishing in Granddad’s pond, building Legos, and anything with a ball. He had hopes of becoming a preacher and a paleontologist, and assuredly he would have excelled at both.

Graham’s family would like to extend their eternal gratitude for the many prayers and kindnesses shown to them through this difficult journey made easier by the love, support, and encouragement given them. They would like to encourage anyone who interceded on Graham’s behalf to feel welcomed to attend our celebration of his life.

Funeral services will be at 6:30 pm Tuesday, November 7,2023 at Little Chapel Church with pastors TW Norman, Ron Coyle and Jeff Rush officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00 pm until service time at Little Chapel. Private burial will be held at a later date.
