Recovery Resource Center Now Open on West 10th Street in Metropolis

MCDAC aims to provide a safe and supportive environment, where individuals can get connected to peers in order to access information, tools and resources to begin their journey to recovery

The Massac County Drug Awareness Coalition is thrilled to announce the opening of its Recovery Resource Center, non-clinical peer recovery support services to individuals seeking recovery from substance use.

Through the Recovery Resource Center, MCDAC aims to provide a safe and supportive environment, where individuals can get connected to peers in order to access information, tools and resources to begin their journey to recovery.  MCDAC’s team of Recovery Support Specialists and Recovery Navigators will provide non-clinical peer recovery support services tailored to meet the unique needs of participants.  All services will be provided free of charge, which has been made possible through grants, local government funding, donations and Americorps.

“We are staffing our office with some great people who live in Massac County and are themselves in recovery.  They will be able to use their lived experience to help others who are starting their own journey to recovery.” says MCDAC Executive Director Holly Windhorst.

“The peer-to-peer support approach has proven to be highly effective in fostering a sense of belonging, hope and motivation among individuals seeking recovery.  The center will serve as a hub for community members to connect in a judgment-free space.” says Recovery Coordinator Jordan Strong.

MCDAC began in 2012 as a volunteer community coalition and has evolved over the years in order to address community needs.  The coalition focuses on youth substance use prevention and increasing recovery support in the community.

Director Windhorst said that MCDAC is grateful for the unwavering support of community partners, local organizations and dedicated volunteers who have helped make this new step possible.

The Recovery Resource Center will be open 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday with walk-ins always welcome.

Additionally the Massac County Drug Awareness Coalition generall meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8am at the Metropolis City Hall.  The meeting is open to the public and MCDAC welcomes new volunteers.
