Pope County Sheriff Suits Advises of Missing Stop Signs

(WMOK) Pope County, IL –  The Pope County Road District has reported that 4 Stop Signs have been removed from their original placements in the Brownfield area in rural Pope County over he weekend.

Sheriff Jerry Suits of Pope County advised that the signs were removed without permission or authorization.  Sheriff Suits went on to say that this is a serious issue as one or two of the signs were in an intersection of a State Highway and the absence of those signs could create a serious accident.

Suits asks for assistance in the issue and advised that the stop signs need to be returned.

He asks that anyone with information please contact the Pope COunty Sheriff’s Department at 618-683-4321.

Suits closed by saying that the person or persons found to be in possession of these signs or any highway signs could face prosecution.
