WMOK Southernmost Illinois Fireworks Listing 2023


When Massac County Sheriff Chad Kaylor joined us this week for Coffee Break – he discussed common safety guidance that we should all keep in mind during the July 4th holiday – we well as special precautions due to the hot and dry conditions.  Sheriff Kaylor also advised of a cooling shelter that will be available on Thursday and Friday at the Massac County Courthouse for those in need of shelter.

Massac

Metropolis – Saturday, July 1

Fireworks will take place in the city of Metropolis on Saturday July 1 at dusk.  Folks are welcome to gather throughout the city and along the Ohio to view the fireworks.  Beginning at 6pm – the Hometown Celebration will be held on the grounds of Harrah’s.  The entry fee is $5 and all proceeds go to provide school supplies to students returning to class later this year.

Brookport – Saturday, July 1

The City of Brookport will have their parade beginning at 5P (Parade line up will be 4 to 4:30P)  Then the festivities begin with lil Mr. & Ms. Brookport, wiffle ball game, horse shoes and more.

The Brookport festivities will include a car show this year for the first time.  There will be classes and they will allow the guests to judge.  There will be voting boxes set up for each class and one for overall best in show.  The winner will receive $500 cash.

Pope

A word from Rural Pope County Fire Protection District regarding 4th of July celebrations:

Saturday – We would like to remind you that we will be set up in Golconda this Saturday around 3pm selling burgers, hot dogs and refreshments.  Raffle tickets will also be available for the pellet smoker, beef, and hog bundles

Sunday – Eddyville set up will begin at 10am in Eddyville at Station 2.  There will be a huge water slide and dunk tank for the kids – and Busy Bee food truck will be set up next to the station for refreshments as well.   Don’t forget to purchase that BBQ from Eddyville so we can have an awesome fireworks show next year also!  Tickets for the pellet smoker and meat bundles will be available at Eddyville as well.
Drawing for all raffle items will be Sunday evening before the fireworks begin
