Pope County Man Arrested in connection with assault at a local restaurant

The Paducah Police Department advised via release that Michael Robbins, age 41 of Golconda has been charged in a warrant with second degree strangulation.

The Paducah Police were dispatched to the Waffle Hut at 5440 Cairo Road in reference to a physical disturbance.  Upon arrival the victim, an employee of Waffle Hut told officers that two patrons were being disorderly and appeared intoxicated.   He asked the two to be respectful of the other customers and then went back to cooking.  Shortly after one of the males came behind the counter and started to choke the victim.  The suspect also made threats to the victim.

The suspect and his companion left the location in a Green GEO Tracker with a black hard top, roof wrack holding a spare tire and Illinois registration.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Paducah Police credit the public as well as the Pope County Sheriff’s Department with assisting in locating Robbins.
