The Christmas for Kids Toy Drive will take place on Saturday December 17th from 7am until 10am at the Metropolis Community Center on west 10th Street in Metropolis. The event is open to residents living in Massac County and is open to ages 16 and under.

An onsite registration for is provided in which the following information will be needed:

  • Proof of Need – Medical or Link Card
  • Proof of Age – Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residency – Driver’s License/Photo ID of Adult
  • Proof of Relationship of that adult to child – Must be Parent or Guardian

5-7P – The Refuge will host a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The community dinner will take place in the Refuge Church parking lot, 714 Filmore St.

5:30P – Thanksgiving Dinner at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church – G.T.C., 215 Pearl St.  This is provided as an out-reach ministry by area churches for the Joppa community. Deliveries will be provided to shut-in families within the Joppa area. Contact (618)638-2480 for deliveries.

6:30-11:30A the Kiwanis Club of Metropolis will host their annual Pancake Breakfast!

The Pancake Breakfast will take place at the First United Methodist Church, located at 100 E. 5th St. Adults $10, children five and under free with an accompanying adult.

10A-1Pthe Metropolis Public Library will hold their Christmas Open House!

Photos with Santa, Holiday Crafts, Cocoa, Tea, Coffee and Treats!
This year they will have a “Stockings for Soldiers” stuffing station and Christmas card creation station. For a $5 donation you can help stuff a stocking for our Soldiers and create a special handmade card!

The Metropolis Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest is coming up!

 

This event is open to all boys and girls willing to put their free throw skills to the test and will take place Saturday, December 10 at the Massac Co Junior High School.

 

Doors will open at 9:30am, Registration will take place from 9:30am – 10am and shooting begins at 10am.

 

Boys and Girls age groups: 8-9; 10-11; 12-13
(Contestants age groups will be determined by their age as of April 1, 2023)

 

Awards for winners & runners-up. Plus, lucky prize drawings and more!
