STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS ISSUES UPDATED FAQ FOR VOTING BY MAIL

SPRINGFIELD – With nearly 820,000 vote-by-mail ballots requested for the Nov. 8 General Election to date, the Illinois State Board of Elections has issued updated answers to these and some of the other most frequently asked questions about voting by mail.

“Voting by mail has been embraced by Illinois voters for its convenience and simplicity,” said State Board of Elections Executive Director Bernadette Matthews. “We want to make sure voters who have requested a vote by mail ballot understand the process and know their voting options should they
later prefer to vote in person rather than by mail.”

Answers to many common questions about voting by mail have been posted on the Board of Elections website.

The State Board of Elections is an independent state agency charged with the responsibility of having general supervision over the administration of election laws of the State of Illinois. Elections are administered locally by the State’s 108 election authorities.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m on November 8th. Each voter must vote at his/her precinct polling place. Check your polling place location with the election authority for your jurisdiction. Click here to view local Election Athorities.

Prior to Election Day, voters should familiarize themselves with their voting rights and related voter information. Click here to view Illinois Voter Information.
