Lookie-Loos Create Issues on the Scene of Emergencies

When Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse joined WMOK for Coffee Break this week he told us that Monday’s Pell Road fire was the largest that he had been on the scene of in his career.  He also advised of “lookie-loos” and the importance of folks keeping the scene clear for emergency crews and advised that a vehicle almost had to be pushed out of the way with equipment at Monday’s fire scene.  Hear our conversation below:

New Beginnings Antique Angel Tree in Need of Nominations

Earlier this month WMOK spoke with Kim Abell from New Beginnings with Massac Memorial Hospital about their Antique Angel Tree program that’s coming up for the holiday season. They are in need of nominations. The nominations are due by Thursday November 4.  Kim told WMOK that nominees must be: over the age of 65 and either be on a limited income, not have family close, experience difficulty with the holidays, or live alone in Massac County.

If you have a nominee forms are available through New Beginnings and must include the name, address, phone number, gender, and age of the nominee along with their clothing size, preferred snacks, and six gifts wanted. Forms must also include the nominator’s name and phone number.

Meet the Teams will start at 5:00 on November 5th. The booster club will sell hot dogs and hamburgers – athletes will eat for free. There will be some amazing raffle baskets! There will also be uniforms from years past for sale. They will also be honoring the veterans in attendance with free Longhorn appetizer cards. If all goes as planned there will also be an alumni game to wrap up the evening.

Tough battle but the Lady Patriots came up a little short last night as their season came to an end against Fairfield. Congratulations to Coach Miller, Coach Goines, our seniors and all of the Lady Patriot Volleyball team on a very impressive season. GO PATRIOTS!!!
