At the Kiwanis Club of Metropolis meeting on Aug. 17,  Cathy Elliott, Michael Love, and Conrad Love from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tri-state spoke about the work they do and their impact on the youth of southern Illinois.

Some of the many contributions they have made in our area recently include an Outstanding Educator Award to a teacher at MES, donations to Weekend Blessings, donation of books to MES, and donations to Reaching for Kids. Their RMHC chapter also makes annual donations exceeding $50,000 to the Ronald McDonald Houses in St. Louis, Evansville, and Louisville, as well as giving out grants on the order of $125,000 annually. All of their money comes from private donations, while all administrative costs and salaries are covered by the McDonald’s Corporation. The RMHC of Tri-state covers southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

At the conclusion of their meeting they presented a grant of $2500 for the Weekend Blessings project. Shown in the photo are Cathy Elliott, Conrad Love, Michael Love, and club president Carroll Duncan.
