Massac County Nursing Home Receives Fine Due to Violations

On Tuesday afternoon the Illinois Department of Public Health released the most recent quarter’s (January, February, March) violation reports for Illinois Nursing Homes.

Springfield, Peoria and Skokie had multiple facilities will violations as did a few other towns throughout the state.  You can view the 2022 1st Quarterly Report for Illinois Nursing homes in it’s entirety here.

One Nursing facility in Southernmost Illinois had violation reports included in the release from the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Southgate Health Care Center at 900 E. Ninth Street in Metropolis received a Type A violation of an occurrence for failing to implement fall interventions and preventing the falls of two residents; one a female in her 90s with a history of falls and a 74 year old male.

The fine was doubled in the instance involving Southgate to $25,000.  This was done “in accordance with 300.282i and j) of the Code due to the violation of the sections of the Code with a high-risk designation: 300.1210b), 300.1210d)6), and 300.3240a).
