Today we have a chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 63° and possible wind gusts as high as 21 mph.
Tonight – Mostly clear, with a low around 42° with possible wind gusts as high as 21 mph.
Thursday – Increasing clouds, with a high near 59° and possible wind gusts as high as 26 mph.
Thursday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 38°.

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Statement for our area. Thunderstorms are forecast.  This includes a marginal risk of severe storms, with lightning and hail the primary hazards, but damaging winds and isolated tornadoes also possible. Locally heavy rains will also be a hazard with storms today. Behind the front this afternoon, clearing skies and brisk winds will promote lowering relative humidity into the 20s percentile in the far western Ozarks. This will heighten fire danger there this afternoon and early evening.

The next potential chance of frost is late Friday night and late Saturday night. Low temperatures might dip to the freezing mark around Mount Vernon  late Saturday night.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible each afternoon. Severe storms are not expected and the main threats will be lightning and briefly heavy rain.

This is National Library Week! The theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes—in addition to books. Most importantly libraries also connect communities to each other. Overall, the theme is an explicit call to action—an invitation for communities to join, visit, or advocate for their local libraries.

Head Start students and staff practiced a school wide tornado drill in the classroom. They were taught to take cover and protect their head and necks. These are some of the many hands on learning activities that the staff and children participate in as part of their development.
