The Annual Metropolis Community Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 16th at 10AM, at Washington Park (across from the Metropolis Public Library). This is for kids ages 10 and up.


The Southern Seven Health Department wants to advise that  at-home colon cancer test kits are available, by request today. To receive your at-home colon cancer test kit, call 618-634-2297 or visit southern7.org. No prep or dietary restrictions. And no doctor’s referral needed.

On April 3rd, The Massac County Youth Fair will hold their Pork Burger Fundraiser on Sunday, April 3rd, from 11AM until 2PM. The fundraiser will take place at the Massac County Youth Fair Grounds, 4476 Korte Rd. This event will be a drive-thru style fundraiser. Stay in your car and drive through for a delicious pork burger meal. Each meal comes with a pork burger, chips, baked beans, and a drink. All proceeds will go to the Massac County Youth Fair.


Monday, April 4th 4-8PM – Panera Fundraiser Night for Project Hope – 20% of the evenings proceeds will go to Project Hope. Please have a copy of the flyer with you or on a phone or other device

Project Hope Humane Society has scheduled their Spring Vaccine and Microchip Clinic. It will be Saturday, April 23rd from Noon until 4 pm. No appointment is necessary. On Monday, April 25th at 6:30 – The Massac County High School will have their band/choir spring concert.

Local Arrest Reports

March 18, 2022 – While on patrol, a Metropolis Officer observed a black Honda Civic on 7th St. The officer recognized the driver, Matthew L. Owens,29, Metropolis. The officer was aware that Owens license was suspended. A traffic stop was conducted and a compute check confirmed that the license was still suspended. Owens was charged and released on bond.

March 20, 2022 – Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance at the bowling alley. Upon arrival, Officers were advised that the vehicles involved were leaving. A Metropolis Officer caught up to one of the vehicles, a black Dodge Dart on US 45 & Devers. A traffic stop was conducted. A computer check revealed that the driver, Jataysha J. Scott, 19, Paducah, KY had a suspended drivers license. Scott was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
