The National Weather Service in Paducah  has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Statement for our area in effect until overnight. Scattered thunderstorms are forecast across our region Today. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across much of the area Friday afternoon and early Friday evening. While damaging winds should be the primary hazard, some hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible.

The potential for thunderstorms returns to the area Tuesday and Tuesday night. While lightning and locally heavy rain appear to be the main concerns, strong to severe thunderstorms also cannot be ruled out on Tuesday.

River flooding will continue on some area rivers.

Today is Awkward moments day. Today we recognize National Awkward Moments Day. This is an annual day that every person can relate to. We have all had our awkward moments from time to time. They are a part of life; they just happen.

Today is also World Sleep Day. World Sleep Day exists to highlight and celebrate the importance of quality, healthy sleep. It has the goal of bringing attention and awareness to sleep problems and disorders, while promoting prevention and management of them, in order to reduce them in society. Other related goals of the day are to increase research of sleep medicines and to come to a better understanding of sleep conditions. Up to 45% of the world’s population has a sleep problem, and most of these problems can be prevented or treated, but only about one in three people seek treatment.
