Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education requirements regarding masking, testing and tracing are “null and void”, Massac County Unit #1 School District Superintendent Jason Hayes announced on Monday morning.

Due to a recent written ruling by Judge Grischow of Sangamon County, Hayes announced via social media on Monday that Massac Unit 1 has changed their Return to School Plan to fall in line with the recent Temporary Restraining Order issued in Sangamon County, Illinois.

Masks will now be optional in Massac County Unit 1 schools.  Masks will continue to be required on school transportation such as school buses and driver’s ed vehicles per Federal Transportation Guidelines.
