In Friday afternoon’s update from the Southern Seven Health Department regarding newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Southern Seven Counties of Illinois they reported 57 new confirmed cases and 63 recovered cases. 13 of those were in Massac County.
All of the Southern Seven counties remain at Orange Warning Level regarding Covid-19 risk.
In totaling the Southern Seven Health Department’s reports for Saturday September 11 through Friday September 17 there were 89 new cases reported in Massac County. Those break down by demographic as follows: eight under the age of ten, sixteen in their teens, thirteen in their twenties, twelve in their thirties, twelve in their forties, seven in their fifties, six in their sixties, four in their seventies and eleven eighty plus.
As of Friday afternoon the Southern Seven Health Department reports 43,377 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the seven county region since vaccine first arrived on December 16, 2020. The average of individuals totally vaccinated in the S7 region is 30.25%. The percent of population vaccinated in Massac County is 31.43%
Southern Seven reminds everyone to continue to follow COVID-19 safety measures in public settings, even after fully vaccinated, to further control the spread of this virus. COVID-19 can be spread up to 48 hours before a person has symptoms. Anyone not fully vaccinated who has been at gatherings where little to no safety measures were in place is at risk of contracting COVID-19 and are asked to watch for symptoms. If you begin to show symptoms, isolate immediately and contact your healthcare provider about getting tested for COVID-19.
