In a routine traffic stop on April 5, a Metropolis police officer apprehended a local man for driving with a suspended license and expired vehicle registration. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Ryan J. Kline of Metropolis, was stopped at the intersection of 18th and Nevelle.
Upon stopping Kline’s vehicle, the officer discovered that his driver’s license was suspended. Following this initial finding, Kline was taken into custody, and a tow truck was summoned to remove the vehicle from the scene. While conducting a search of the vehicle, authorities uncovered evidence indicative of drug trafficking.
Investigators found a significant amount of drug paraphernalia alongside Cannabis located in a backpack within the vehicle. As a result, Kline has been charged with Cannabis trafficking, driving while suspended, and having an expired vehicle registration.
Kline is currently being held at the Massac County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
