Metropolis Police Department Arrest Blotter – Woman Charged After Disturbance Leads to Son’s Injury

Metropolis, IL – Local authorities responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of Girard, where a heated argument escalated into a concerning altercation involving a mother and her children.

According to reports, 36-year-old Kayela Miller became embroiled in a dispute with her daughter, which prompted her to seize the daughter’s phone. In an attempt to destroy the device using a hammer, Miller inadvertently struck her son with the claw end of the hammer.

Officers arrived at the scene to find chaos, and Miller was subsequently charged with reckless conduct as a result of her actions. Following her arrest, she was released on a notice to appear in court.
