
WMOK (Metropolis, IL) In a routine traffic stop on March 26, 2025, officers encountered more than just an equipment violation. A Metropolis Officer stopped a vehicle at the intersection of 14th and Catherine and, upon approaching, detected a strong smell of raw cannabis emanating from inside.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cannabis, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication that belonged to another individual. The driver, 42-year-old Robert A. Ledsinger from Joppa, IL, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription medication belonging to another person.
The passenger, 35-year-old Elizabeth H. Barger from Golconda, also faced legal trouble and was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
After the processing of both individuals, they were released on a notice to appear in court.
