WMOK (Metropolis, IL) – On March 21, 2025, officers from the Metropolis Police Department responded to a trespassing complaint at the Lois Lane Apartments. Upon arrival, they encountered Deborah R. Lewis, a 64-year-old resident of Evansville, IN, who was found living in her car in the parking lot.
Officers recognized Lewis from prior encounters and reminded her that she had been trespassed from the property by management. Despite this, Lewis continued to occupy the premises. In an effort to assist her, officers reached out to Arrowleaf, a local support service, which indicated that Lewis needed to be evaluated at a hospital before they could provide help.
Lewis was transported to Massac Memorial Hospital for a medical assessment but subsequently refused to cooperate with Arrowleaf staff and hospital personnel. After being informed that failure to seek assistance could result in arrest for criminal trespass, Lewis remained uncooperative.
As a result, she was charged with criminal trespass and later released on a notice to appear in court.
