WMOK (Metropolis, IL) On March 24, 2025, a Metropolis police officer observed a vehicle exiting the Acee’s Truck Stop and making a turn onto Devers Road without its headlights activated, in violation of traffic regulations. The officer noted that the vehicle was traveling at a slow speed and weaving erratically.
Following these observations, a traffic stop was initiated. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Anthony J. Jones of Metropolis, displayed signs of extreme intoxication during the encounter. Consequently, he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and transported to the Massac County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Mr. Jones refused to submit to any testing during the process. After completing the necessary protocols, he was released on a notice to appear in court.
