Metropolis Police Blotter: Motorcycle Pursuit Leads to Arrests

WMOK (Metropolis, IL) On March 12, a Metropolis Officer was alerted to two motorcycles operating without registration on 5th Street. Upon seeing the patrol car, one of the riders signaled to his companion to flee the scene. As they turned onto Scott Street, the officer activated his emergency lights, resulting in the two motorcyclists splitting up in an attempt to evade capture.

The officer pursued the first rider, identified as 28-year-old Deandre Taylor from Benton Harbor, MI. Taylor’s escape ended when he crashed at the intersection of 3rd and Ferry and was promptly taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the second rider, Christopher K. Miller, 19, from Bardwell, KY, was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed down 5th Street. He continued onto I-24 eastbound but lost control and crashed before reaching the Ohio River Bridge.

Both Taylor and Miller have been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, operating without valid driver’s licenses, failing to have valid vehicle registration, and operating uninsured motor vehicles. They have been released on a Notice to Appear.
