WMOK (Metropolis, IL)—In response to a major water leak that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, officials have issued a Boil Water Order for customers in the affected area.
WMOK remains in contact with Metropolis Public Works Director Natalie Harris who told us that they were working on a major water leak in the area of 8th Street near Southgate Nursing.
This order impacts residents from Filmore to US 45 and from 3rd Street to 12th Street.
Crews worked diligently for hours on Tuesday to repair the leak.
As part of standard safety procedures, the Boil Water Order will remain in effect until thorough bacteriological testing has been conducted and confirmed safe for consumption.
Residents are advised to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth.
City officials appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation during this time, assuring that they are doing everything possible to restore safe water supply as quickly as possible.
