Mounds Man Arrested for Driving With Suspended License, Found with Illegal Firearm


WMOK – Metropolis, IL – On December 24, 2024, a Metropolis police officer conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of 45-year-old Jason R. Houston from Mounds, Illinois. The officer, who recognized Houston from a previous encounter, observed him driving along 5th Street despite knowing that Houston’s driver’s license was suspended.

 

The traffic stop took place at the intersection of 5th Street and Butler, where law enforcement officials apprehended Houston. During the procedure, a tow truck was called to remove Houston’s vehicle. A subsequent search of the trunk uncovered an AR-15 style rifle along with ammunition.

 

Further investigation revealed that Houston’s Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card had been revoked. As a result, he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon (UUW), possession of a revoked FOID card, and driving while his license was suspended.

 

Following the incident, Houston was released on a notice to appear in court.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
