(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – It’s an exciting time at WMOK and in Massac County in General – the sports season is underway at Massac High School with the season opener for Massac County Football tomorrow night.

Local sports broadcasting relies heavily on sponsorships to bring community events to the airwaves. These partnerships enable stations to cover production costs, ensuring games and matches are broadcast to enthusiastic fans.

We’ve done so for over seven decades now – beginning with broadcasts of Metropolis Community High School Basketball in the fall of 1951 – which due to technology at the time had to be recorded live and aired the next morning.
