(WMOK) Metropolis, IL –

The Importance of Sponsorships in Providing Local Sports Broadcasting to Communities

Sponsorships Available for 2024/2025 - text 618-524-9209

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Metropolis, IL – It was an exciting time at WMOK and in Massac County as the sports season got underway on Friday Night.

WMOK’s Massac County Sports Broadcasting relies heavily on local business sponsorships to bring community events to the airwaves.

These partnerships enabled stations to cover production costs, ensuring games and matches were broadcast to enthusiastic fans. Sponsorships also fostered community engagement, promoting local businesses and organizations. In return, sponsors received valuable exposure, reaching a dedicated audience.

This symbiotic relationship was crucial, allowing local sports broadcasting to thrive and serve as a hub for community connection and pride.

It is sincerely the local sponsors who allow WMOK the resources to bring Massac County Sports to the community as we have done for over seven decades.  WMOK’s Sports Broadcasts began with broadcasts of Metropolis Community High School Basketball in the fall of 1951—which, due to technology at the time, had to be recorded live and aired the next morning.

We now broadcast the games not only on your radio – but on the WMOK Live Stream.

The WMOK Live Stream is housed on our sister-group, Section618.com – you can download the Section618 app on your app store.

If you prefer you can go here  and click Listen Live on WMOK

We thank the following Community Sponsors for Massac County Sports Broadcasts as well as School and Sports News Coverage on WMOK for the 2024/2025 Season::::

(sponsorships are still available - text WMOK at 618-524-9209 for details)
