Early Friday Crash: Semi Leaves I-24 and Crashes to Country Club Road Leaving Piles of Unpackaged Refrigerated Chicken in its Wake

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – An early morning semi-wreck caused disruption this morning in the county.

Minutes before 5am a semi left I-24, traveled down the embankment and over Country Club road in Massac County leaving in its wake refrigerated chicken breasts.

There were no injuries to the driver.

Photos below are from this morning’s event via Aaron Caldwell, Massac County resident and emergency responder.
Mr. Caldwell and his family live directly beside I-24 and this is the second such incident they’ve been awakened to.
Caldwell joined us in the WMOK studio this morning to tell us more about the event – Touch “listen in browser” to listen below:

Wrapping Up - 5th Street - Civitan and Lincoln Park

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – When WMOK spoke with Metropolis Mayor Don Canada we learned the current situation of the Civitan / Lincoln Ballpark on East 5th Street in Metropolis.

Regarding tennis courts in the park – Canada advised that it would not be feasible to replace the courts at the park as the cost could fall in the 500-600 thousand dollar range.

Mayor Canada told WMOK that councilpersons are working on potential ideas for the future of the park.
