New Massac Unit 1 Office Nearing Completion Though Not in Time for the New School Year

Superintendent Hayes DIscusses the Future of the Current Building with WMOK

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Massac County School Superintendent Jason Hayes recently joined WMOK’s Coffee Break program to provide an update on the construction of the new unit district office. While the project is nearing completion, Hayes advised that it will not be ready in time for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Hayes explained that construction has slowed down, with only a few items remaining to be finished, mainly electrical work. However, some essential materials are backordered, causing a delay. Despite the setback, Hayes is optimistic about the project’s progress.

During the interview, Hayes also discussed the potential future of the current unit office, sharing his insights on what might be in store for the facility.

Brookport Bridge Closure on Tuesday from 9am until Approximately Noon

Closure of U.S. 45 Ohio River ‘Brookport’ Bridge on Tuesday Morning, July 23
Bridge to temporarily close 9 a.m., to 12 p.m., CDT

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 19, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to temporarily close the U.S. 45 Ohio River ‘Brookport’ Bridge for about three hours on Tuesday morning, July 23, 2024.

The U.S. 45 Ohio River ‘Brookport’ Bridge will close promptly at 9 a.m., CDT, Tuesday, and remain closed until about 12 p.m., Tuesday.

This closure is to allow a contractor to examine the existing navigational lighting on the bridge to help design a new navigational lighting system to be installed in the future. The placement of equipment to facilitate the work will require the bridge to be closed to all traffic for about three hours.

There will be no marked detour. Motorists may self-detour via the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge.
