(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Massac Unit #1 School Superintendent joined us earlier in July for our “Back to School” episode of WMOK’s Coffee Break Program.
The primary focus of our discussion was back to school information for both returning and new students, lunch accounts and more.
We also discussed progress on the new Unit Office building which is nearing completion on Old Marion Road in Metropolis and new bleachers at Massac Junior High.
With the construction on the new unit office building nearing completion, we discussed with Mr. Hayes the potential future of the current unit office building.
We talked about the new location of the Regional Office of Education building and the number of services that are offered at the office.
In closing, we discussed the potential implications to school systems everywhere regarding the Louisisanna Law requiring the display of the 10 commandments in public classrooms which is to be challenged.
We also discussed the possible effects on public schools regarding plans underway by the Heritage Foundation to dismantle the Board of Education.
