Water Main Break Causes Outages in Round Knob Area of Massac County

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – A water main rupture in the Round Knob area has left customers without water service, according to Fort Massac Water District.

The break occurred around 2:00 AM Thursday, affecting residents along parts of Rosebud Road and North Avenue. Repairs are underway, but water service is not expected to be restored until at least 12:00 PM today.

Once service is restored, a precautionary boil water order will be in effect until Monday, June 24, for customers who experienced an outage.

The boil water order is a standard precaution to ensure the safety of the drinking water supply.

Customers who still have water pressure are not affected by the outage or boil water order.

The Fort Massac Water District apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the public’s cooperation during this time. Updates on the repair progress will be provided as available.
