Entire Eldorado High School coaching staff fired following incident at Eldorado Holiday tournament

/ WMOK

(WMOK) – In follow-up from the Eldorado Holiday tournament, the Eldorado community unit school district held a special meeting last night with the purpose of employment discipline as well as student disciplinary action.

The meeting was called in response to the events that occurred during the final night of the Eldorado Holiday tournament when a member of the Eldorado boy’s team flagrantly elbowed a Hamilton County player in the head causing injury.

After the video of the incident was posted the school district, as well as the IHSA was inundated with reports and the school district determined that they must take action.

During last night’s meeting, the Eldorado School board voted to fire its entire coaching staff. The staff terminated includes head coach Josh Bradley, varsity assistant John DeBose, varsity assistant TJ Zuriline, JV coach Austin Bradley, and freshman coach Adam Ninnes.  The board decided to appoint Rod Wallace as interim coach.

Based on the video from the meeting the players involved have been disciplined.

We’ve included the video below which shows an Eldorado player elbowing a Hamilton County player following a foul shot.  The Hamilton County player then falls to the ground at least twice in the video in an attempt to get up.

Eldorado High School did release a statement on Friday of last week that said they will not tolerate unsportsmanlike behavior such as was displayed during that game.

On Saturday Eldorado High School advised via social media that a game for Tuesday, January 2nd had been canceled.

The Illinois High School Association advises that it’s monitoring the situation and the school is cooperating.
