Johnson County Courthouse Building Closed Due to Structural Movement

The Johnson County Commissioners want to inform the public that the COURTHOUSE BUILDING IS CLOSED.

There has been some movement in the structure that has caused it to be a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. The Courthouse Yard has been taped off and will be fenced off ASAP.

Please do not enter the Courthouse Yard.

The Circuit Clerk, Circuit Court and States Attorney ‘s office has been moved and phone lines are being connected to the new locations.

Please give each office until Friday to get things under control.

The Temp homes of the offices are States Attorney office is located across the street from the Courthouse beside the Shawnee Title Building on the North Side and the Circuit Clerk and Court are now located in the Handicapped Court Room at the moment beside the Sheriffs Office.

They ask that everyone please be patient as they move forward in the process and at this time, they are unknown what the future holds for the Historical Courthouse, but they are looking at every option going forward.
