Brookport Fire Department Awarded The Fiscal Year 2023 Small Equipment Grant

Brookport Fire Department has been awarded the Fiscal Year 2023 Small Equipment Grant for brand new handheld radios that their firefighters and first responders can utilize for all emergency responses.

The grant is in the amount of $15.675 and will provide for the purchase of 15 Kenwood NX-5200 VHF handheld radios and the ion lithium batteries required for their usage.  These new radios are digital capable and allow the department to communicate with other surrounding departments that are utilizing digital radio frequencies.  The grant is awarded by the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

The Brookport Fire Department said in a social media post that they appreciate the continued support and they look forward to better serving their community with more reliable life saving equipment.
