/ WMOK

(WMOK – Metropolis, IL) WMOK continues to gather details regarding an increase in fines for ordinance violations in the City of Metropolis.

WMOK recently spoke with JK Thomas regarding an increase in fines for tampering with City owned water shut off.  Those fines $100 for the first offense and as much as $750  for the second offense.

Metropolis Animal Control and Abatement Officer John Roman also told us recently that fines are increasing in his Department for violations of city ordinances.   The fine for dogs running at large, which has long been $25 will now be $100.

When we had Metropolis Mayor Don Canada in the Coffee Break we got into the topic with him.

Mayor Canada told WMOK that the fines for ordinance violations were raised to $100 for all ordinance violations.  Canada said that some of the fines are being updated for the first time since 2000 to 2008.
