Metropolis COPE Distribution will resume on Wednesday, December 28 from 9A – 3P.

All Southern Seven Health Departments and Head Start locations will be closed today, Tuesday, December, 27. They will reopen on Wednesday, December 28 during normal business hours.

Due to driving conditions and real snow – the Metropolis Public Library snow day will be rescheduled! The library will be open 10-4 today.

WMOK heard from Betty at Happy Hearts Senior Center and she advised that Happy Hearts will be closed – Tuesday – December 27th due to inclement road conditions

A Pipe Burst at First United Methodist Church Creates Need for Volunteers Amid Cold Temperatures

Shortly after Noon today WMOK learned that a pipe has burst on the third floor at the First United Methodist Church. The event has flooded all three floors of the educational building. Folks who are available and would like to help with clean up are invited as the help go help would be greatly appreciated! Items needed – Squgees, shop vacs, fans, etc as well as able bodied volunteers.

The church is located at 100 east 5th Street in Metropolis

Hazardous Weather Outlook Statement and A Special Weather Statement

Patchy black ice developed on roads and sidewalks early this morning due to freezing drizzle and refreezing of surfaces. Slick conditions are expected to linger latest in the Evansville Tri-State and Kentucky Pennyrile. Temperatures in the 20s in the wake of a cold front – wet roadways may refreeze and form patches of black ice. This is most likely on untreated secondary roads, bridges, and overpasses. The impacts have lingered and travelers should remain alert for changing roadway conditions today and as temperatures drop this evening.
