All Seven Southernmost Illinois Counties at Elevated Covid-19 Transmission Levels

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports that as of July 15, according to the CDC, 94 Illinois counties are at High or Medium COVID-19 Community Transmission Levels. Southern 7 Health Department (S7HD) reports that seven of those counties are located in the Southern 7 region.

County Community Transmission Levels for July 15, 2022:
• High Level: Alexander, Pulaski and Union
• Medium Level: Hardin, Johnson, Massac, and Pope
• Low Level: 0

Applying preventive measures that include physical distancing, mask wearing, hand hygiene, and cleaning of high-touch surfaces in densely populated areas and markets can mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Symptoms of Covid-19

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Covid-19 include:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea

If you have tested positive for Covid-19 it’s necessary to follow the guidance of the CDC to avoid contributing to community spread.
