The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Statement

until 8 PM CDT Tonight. Extreme heat and humidity will significantly
increase the potential for heat related illnesses,
particularly for those working or participating in outdoor
activities.

Today makes 4 to 5 straight days of prolonged heat and humidity, which can have cumulative effects
to those susceptible to heat related illness. This extreme heat looks like it will last through Friday, at least for some parts
of the region, so either an extension of the Warning or potentially an Advisory will likely be added for a portion of
the region in upcoming forecasts. Some relief is on the way for the weekend. However, the heat will return with a vengeance next
week, with triple digit highs in the forecast.

Today is Recess At Work Day!  A recess is a “temporary cessation of the customary activities of an engagement, occupation, or pursuit.” Recess at Work Day was started in 2004 by Rich DiGirolamo, because he believed that in order for workers to be productive, happy, and loyal, they need to have a fun work environment. He saw Recess at Work Day as a starting point in improving employee morale, happiness, health, wellness, and productivity. The day is for building a team spirit, and for increasing innovation and recharging those in an organization. The day may also have a positive effect on employee retention, which in turn will have an effect on customer retention.
