Southern Seven Head Start students are talking about famous authors and artists each month. This month is Michelangelo. The children painted a picture under a table to recreate the painting technique that Michelangelo used when he painted the Sistine Chapel. These are some of the many hands on learning activities that the staff and children participate in as part of their development. Today is National Library Workers Day and this is National Library Week! The theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources.

Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes—in addition to books. Most importantly libraries also connect communities to each other. Overall, the theme is an explicit call to action—an invitation for communities to join, visit, or advocate for their local libraries.

Visit the Metropolis Public Library’s Facebook page to see how to have a fun, backyard scavenger hunt!
