WMOK had an opportunity to speak with Metropolis Fire Captain Micah Tolbert this week regarding the new Everbridge system that our local emergency services have implemented to assist with community notifications during emergency events.

Captain Tolbert told WMOK that there are approximately 200 current subscribers as of Tuesday morning.  He hopes to add many more subscribers as that number is only a slight fraction of the number of people located in our community.

Coming Up in April



On April 3rd, The Massac County Youth Fair will hold their Pork Burger Fundraiser on Sunday, April 3rd, from 11AM until 2PM. The fundraiser will take place at the Massac County Youth Fair Grounds, 4476 Korte Rd. This event will be a drive-thru style fundraiser. Stay in your car and drive through for a delicious pork burger meal. Each meal comes with a pork burger, chips, baked beans, and a drink. All proceeds will go to the Massac County Youth Fair.

Local Arrest Reports

On March 7, Matthew A Jenkins, 31 of Metropolis was arrested at the Speedy Mart on E. 12th St. Jenkins was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Larceny. Jenkins was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer stopped a blue KIA for a defective headlight on 7th and Ferry. A computer check revealed that the registration had been cancelled due to no proof of insurance. The driver, Aaron C, Ennis,29, Indianapolis, IN could not provide proof of insurance. Ennis was charged with operating a motor vehicle with cancelled registration and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. The driver was released on bond.


On March 8,  Phoebe N. Davis,37 of Metropolis was arrested in the 500 block of W. 12th. Davis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Violation of an order of protection. Davis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.


On March 12, a Metropolis Sergeant observed a silver Hyundai on US 45. He clocked the Hyundai on radar at 61 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. A traffic stop was made on US 45 and Bullock Ln. A computer check revealed that the driver, Tracy R. Harvell, Vacaville, CA had a suspended driver’s license. Harvell was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.


On March 13, Amiee L. Davis,32 of Metropolis was observed walking on US 45 at Mary’s Lane by a Metropolis Officer on patrol. The officer was aware that Davis was wanted. Davis was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for resisting arrest. Davis was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
