Home Invasion and Battery on Saturday Evening in Metropolis Results in the Arrest of One

When WMOK spoke with Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse for Coffee Break he told us about a home invasion and battery that took place in Metropolis on Saturday evening.

Chief Masse told WMOK that the offender, Anthony P Jennings, age 41 of Metropolis entered a home on Filmore street by breaking in the door.  Jennings then beat one of the occupants of the home with a crow bar causing serious injuries.

Masse stressed that this was an isolated event between individuals known to one another and that there is no threat to the community regarding this incident.

Anthony P. Jennings, 41 is currently lodged in the Massac County Detention Center on charges of Home Invasion Causing Injury and Home Invasion with a Dangerous Weapon – both Class X Felonies.  Jennings is also charged with Aggravated Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm – which are both Class 3 Felonies. 

The preliminary hearing for Jennings is February 22nd.
