The Massac Memorial Hospital New Beginnings Department will resume their Antique Angel Tree Project this Christmas following it’s restructuring last year due to the pandemic.
The Antique Angel Tree is quite similar to the gift trees that we see at many retail locations aside from the target demographic of the project. The Antique Angel Tree project is aimed at our local aging citizens.
Candidates for the tree are those aged 65+ and must meet one or more of the following criteria; on a limited income, without family close by for the holiday, difficulty with mood and anxiety in the Winter months and around the holidays, and/or live alone in Massac County. Nursing home residents are not eligible for the program.
Kim Abell asks that folks nominate members of our community who fit the criteria mentioned above. Nomination forms are available through the New Beginnings Department and must include the name, address, phone number, gender and age of the nominee, along with their clothing sizes, preferred snacks and six desired gifts. Forms must also include the nominator’s name and phone number.
Nominations are due by Thursday, November 11. The deadline to turn in gifts is Wednesday, December 3.
