Covid-19 Details for Week of August 21-August 27 for Massac County

Massac County added 83 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 according to daily totals provided by the Southern Seven Health Department for the week of August 21-August 27.

There were no cases reported in Massac County for ages under 5 and 80+ last week.

There were five new confirmed cases of children under the age of 10 last week and teens added the most new confirmed cases last week with a total of twenty-one.

Those in their 20s added eight new cases, those in their 30s added twelve new cases, those in their 40s added nine new cases, those in their 50s added fifteen new cases, those in their 60s added seven new cases, those in their 70s added six new cases.

The Southern Seven Health department reported on the total of Covid-19 breakthrough cases for the week of August 20-August 26 and advised of 43 (13%) breakthrough cases during that time period.  There were 338 total new confirmed Covid-19 cases during the time period covered by the report.  295 (87%) of the confirmed Covid-19 cases reported during that time frame were of unvaccinated individuals.

The Southern Seven Health department advised that most people experiencing a breakthrough case are experiencing very mild Covid-19 symptoms and few have required hospitalization.

The Southern Seven Health Department reiterates that Covid-19 vaccines will not prevent you from contracting the virus, but it will lessen the chances of contracting it and go a long way toward lessening the severity of the illness.
