In today’s WMOK News Check hear our conversation with Dr. Jonathan Walters of Massac Memorial Hospital. In today’s portion Dr. Walters talks about the dangers of obtaining medical information from social media.

Dr. Walters told WMOK that social media has been very involved in the pandemic because people -whether or not they are in the medical field – tend to feel that  they’re experts and then share information and sadly, misinformation online.

He said that he would like to encourage folks to discuss their health with their doctor or nurse practitioner rather than “somebody that you read on facebook.”

Dr. Walters told WMOK that as steps take place in the fight against Coronavirus that things have changed as they learn more and expand their knowledge of this particular process.
